Re: Diacetyl as a Flavour rather than a Fault

This comes from a member on the low oxygen website, which I am too. quote=stpug post_id=6616 time=1509030173 user_id=69] Fix wrote about the potential for a combination of marginal yeast coupled with mechanical abuse during packaging, coupled with oxygen in headspace, to lead to spontaneous diacetyl...

Re: Storing wort

I have been unlucky being able to brew often. I still have a no chill cube from May that I hope to ferment at some time.

Re: Disaster

Hopefully some of this article will help? I've never done slants, is that freezer dependent? If you go refrigerator route maybe some points on this article will be useful, especially point #5 and the fact that the yeast have something to slowly chump on until the next brew day. http://www.lowoxygenb...

Re: BIAB competition success

Well it turns out that something has gone wrong with my sanitizing and cleaning regimen with bottling... Normally keg so am most dialed in for that. Brews in the last competition didn’t do that well and a couple got slammed. Sounds like I got some bad things in the bottled beer that shouldn’t have ...

I got three paid days off because of the storm, Friday, Monday and Tuesday as I work at a college and our local school system was closed due to the decision of our emergency management officials and the governor of the state.

Re: Hurricane Irma

I'm good here and the whole part of the panhandle (north west Florida).. Joe and his family are good, last check, via text, but he lost power like much of the state did. He was able to pull a line from his neighbors generator ( normally that's just for refrigerators, floor lights and floor fans 110 ...

Re: Hurricane Irma

Listening to Face the Nation this morning, entire hour is on Irma. Our worst nightmare for sure. Here in Panama City, I'm about 15 feet of elevation and just hoping for me the eye doesn't come just west of my house. I would see water in my backyard licking up my porch. For sure Joe, you be safe. Pra...

You were totally protected there with the active yeast. No worries at all!

If it's an ale it is probably done or close to it in 14 days.

What is the beer and yeast?

Re: Use this thread to convert recipes to suit your equipment...

Not sure how/if possible to step-mash with a baby burco?

If this is your first all grain, then try to target for 65° C for 90 minutes, if you feel it's possible then use 65° C for 40 mins., then 72° C for 30 mins., then 78° C for mins.

You're at a login screen. Your PIN doesn't log you in, what should you do?

You see a phone number to call on the page, BUT NOT THE "FORGOT PIN?" button. :headhit:

That's job security I guess... :drink:
