Re: Dealing with evaporation indoors

Hey Scott, I use an urn for BIAB so no fume issues. I never cover the pot during the boil so all good!

Re: Dealing with evaporation indoors

I have a similar issue in my house. The "brew room" which is a duel purpose storage/brewing room has no extraction fan. I can keep the door open during the process but condensation still builds up too much for my liking. One method I have used is to place a fan at the door facing outwards. It didn't...

*Tangent Alert* I went down a bit of a wormhole watching the posted vid...interesting stuff but looks like a hassle. Anyway, I arrived at this particular clip where so blokes in the States do a BIAB that looks pretty straight forward and is most likley similar to what most of us do. There was a comm...

I had done 3 BIAB recipes with a 60 min mash and had missed my numbers by at least .010 each time.

Once I increased the mash time to 90 mins and including a stir or two mid mash the numbers all fell in line.

I am still only doing a 60 min boil though...

Wolfman...oh yeeeeaaaaaah! Glad it all went well. I'm going to do another SMaSH this weekend as I am appreciating this simplicity of the flavours. I took the FG of the IPA and it's sitting at about 6.9% so I think I'll be alternating between the SMaSH and the IPA in order to effectively man...

I had the unfortunate issue last night at the completion of a brew where the cube would not seal. Things were getting hectic with multiple attempts all failing, replacement lid still not sealing, etc. I quickly transferred the still very hot wort into another cube and sealed as quickly as possible l...

I never panic until it starts to smell and/or taste wrong.

Then it's flat out panic stations.

Luckily this has only occurred once.

Hey bensville, just to give you some feeling of comfort I had a very similar experience with my first brew over the weekend. It's all a learning process and I certainly picked up a few pointers on the first brew. The great thing is, as pointed out by thughes, that it does seem difficult to totally m...

Hey all, I'm from the southern coast of Victoria, Australia...right next to Bells Beach. I've been extract brewing since 2011 and have gradually built up to throwing in hops, grains, etc. Gradually worked out that BIAB would probably be easier than what I'm doing now with an 8l boil. Anyway, plannin...
