This will be an Aussie centric reply. usually a heating element will be 2400 Watts, this calculates out to 10 Amps. a standard power circuit is 10 Amp. so if you have 2 2400 Watt elements on a 10 Amp Circuit it is double the rating and should trip out the circuit breaker. If the breaker doesn't trip...

I'll try to make it http://craftypint.com/events/event/meet-your-maker-4-pines-at-the-norfolk-hotel/ Thanks to Labour Day, residents in Western Australia get a long weekend to kick off the month of March. And what better way to start that long weekend than by heading to Fremantle’s Norfolk Hotel whe...

PP, what I found interesting about the Saison Dupont brewery was that it was not a just a step mash but more of an escalator mash . Like they decided, things happen at certain temps, lets use all of them! I accidentally did a "ramp mash" (absent-mindedly threw the grain in at about ~50C)so just ran...

I burnt right through my bag once ( forgot the cake rack) 80% of the grain spilled out, panick! no problem, 20 minuets with a fine colander removed all the crap, then boil as usual

What a great day, I've never done the triangle testing before, I couldn't really pick a difference, from the results my feeling would be that for an IPA no difference chill or no chill. Though as was discussed likely to be different for more subdued styles. Plenty of good conversation at the Sail an...

I have just had my best whirlpool yet.I use whirlfloc but have had problems keeping the trub together. I suspected it was the sheer volume of the trub causing problems so I got myself a hopsock. then while on a roll I made two other changes to my normal routine. (I know, I should make one change at ...

Pretty proud of my first ever competition entry's. A third for a Cream Ale, and just missed a place by 1 point for my Stout.

Had a great time at the awards night, and got some secret tips for next year!

After starting AG nearly a year ago and 10 brews later, I have put a couple in the comp. had a spectacular stout but unfortunately drank it all before I could enter it. I put another one down and hope it will come together before the judging. Also put in a cream ale just because it was in the cupboa...

Well, this went a lot better than I hoped. Very easy, if you don't over-think it. Works well for a mid-strength OG 1035, the grain bill was 8.5KG (I think efficiency would start to suffer any higher) , any bigger would need some dex or sugar to bring it up. What I did: Calculate grain and hops for t...
