Re: Grapefruit Pale Ale

Post is in the perfect spot James ;) . (Saw your post in the other thread. Sorry to see that batch ditched but hopefully the Berliner will be excellent.) Very long day today (and the same goes for pretty much the next seven days) but let's see if I can go through your recipe plan while my brain has ...

Re: Yeast Starter / Starter Wort from Previous Rauchbier Brew

Thanks for the reads above. (Lol on the bonsai :) ) There's a difference between pitching onto a yeast cake, harvesting a yeast cake, washing and rinsing. Harvesting a yeast cake and rinsing it is very easy. I mentioned above, the problem in writing how to do it is in the definitions. I'm very stuck...

Re: The quest for a new setup

Hi there Tom, I thought I'd replied in this thread earlier but see that I missed it. In a rush but here's a few quick notes... - No mill is over-kill for BIAB. Whether you're crushing 5 kg or 10 tons of grain, you are crushing grain and you want to do it correctly. And, it makes no difference whethe...

PrivateWiddle : Welcome aboard Liam. My mother's side of the family came from Cork to Ozland but it was about 200 years ago so you may not know them :). Small batches can be trickier in some ways and easier in others. The scaling is easy with the BIABacus (looks scary but it's not really. Just ask ...

Re: Yeast Starter / Starter Wort from Previous Rauchbier Brew

Hey there Scott :peace: I read your post this morning before heading out to earn some dollars, (it's Sunday here too!) and loved it. Here's why... In my last post in this thread (written at 9:30am), I wrote, "I'll write a new thread on Yeast Slurry Harvesting," thinking that it would take me two or ...

Re: Use this thread to convert recipes to suit your equipment...

Hi Pinchons , My internet keeps going on strike :) but enjoyed reading your post the other day on my phone especially the, "amount of beers drunk during the process and other factors that I'm not going to mention..." comment. It's always amazing how at the beginning of a brew day, you can always fin...

Re: Yeast Starter / Starter Wort from Previous Rauchbier Brew

Hope your trip was amazing and great to have you back  Great to see you identified the problem :peace: . Unfortunately, that method is only really going to work if you were either using a very plain grain bill or intended to make the same recipe. The other problems include how you store the ...

Re: Saison

Sorry gonzo^^ , looks like you slipped through the cracks there. Just had a look at the underlying formula that triggered that warning and it's triggered if priming is done at over 25°C or if over 3.5 Volumes of CO2 are entered. I'd have to think it through a bit more but I'd say that the idea behin...

Re: My First Post! - Post here to become Fully Registered

Things have certainly improved Kevopriddy . Think I gave up brewing three times at least before 2006 :) This site has a lot of gold in it you won't find anywhere else but, atm, it can be hard to find what you're looking for so don't be afraid to just jump in and ask questions. And careful on equipme...

Re: Use this thread to convert recipes to suit your equipment...

Sorry for the slow reply Pinchons . I'm usually better than this. I'm stuck on a small computer so I can't give as much detail as I usually would. Even scrolling takes forever! Now, I know I did write recently about the "Sweet Liquor Shops." If you search my posts for that phrase, you'll get some li...

Re: Use this thread to convert recipes to suit your equipment...

I'm back on board now Pinchons . I'm working from an old laptop at the moment but it is enough for me to be able to answer any questions you have. While I am a little tight on time atm, I know I have missed some of your questions so don't be scared to re-post them if they still concern you. On quest...

Re: Use this thread to convert recipes to suit your equipment...

Hopefully you have everything under control though. Don't worry abot starter, just pitch what you have :luck: :peace:

Re: My First Post! - Post here to become Fully Registered

Welcome aboard Another Brian :salute: All-grain is much more forgiving than extract. That's great your son was in a home brew shop :peace: . There is a lot of quality on this site but it can be very hard to find under the current layout. Until the new layout happens, don't battlw with any perplexity...
