I'm currently using a BIAB with recirculation because it holds temperature so well, I don't have good insulation. I've built a BM clone its its no easier than BIAB and much harder to clean. After some months unused the pump was still wet inside, I like my kit clean and DRY before it is stored. I al...

MC, I forgot to Mention, the BrewEasy system, or any other Multi-vessel(basket)system and pump, and Plumbing, as well at the Tap into the Kettle, and the spray/drip system....Will take a LONG time to Cleans and Sanitize. I wonder how much labor the BrewEasy or BrauMeister http://www.speidels-braume...

Blichmann BrewEasy

Anybody used/seen one of these? http://www.blichmannengineering.com/products/breweasy They say it is like BIAB, but have labeled it K-Rims. You use 2 pots instead of one but you also mash with your full amount of water and recirculate it through both kettles then drain into the bottom BK. I have don...

thughes, I just finished a Amarillo/Citra APA. It was wonderful. It was my all Chinook IPA that I normally use to substitute hops in for testing. (SMASH) I did a all Citra (Citra ass down) it was super. I then did the same recipe with both Citra and Amarillo just using up odd packages. Again it was...

Hi there mc, When you say you have been over your target by 10 points consistently, I haven't seen this in your prior posts. Your first brew (a heavy beer) was spot on in 'Into Packaging Efficiency' (what was reported here) though you had more wort at less gravity. Your second was 10 gravity points...

Have you got your numbers in a spreadsheet?
The volumes have been right on the money or even a bit high in a few batchs. I attached the last sheet I used.

I just rinse everything really well after using them. Then on Brewday I starsan anything that touches the wort after the boil. What do you clean your fermenters with the_mc? Really hot water and maybe some dishsoap if needed but I have found that nothing really sticks to the inside after the hot wa...

If it is a small amount I put it in a ziplock bag and store in a cool dry location. As long as they have not been milled they should last quite a while. I bulk by my base malts and store them in buckets with sealed lids. If it has been milled I am not too sure.....but they should still last you a co...

A quick way would be to calculate the "gravity" the sugar (or other addition) will contribute and subtract this from your target OG. Then use the calculator in the normal way using this adjusted OG. Then when you add your sugar you should hit your target OG. I think this would work  Yeasty O...

Sugar and the Calculator

Hopefully this is not a repost as I did a search but could not locate the info. How does the calculator incorporate surgar? for example I have a Saison that I want make where sugar is about 8% of the grain bill. Do I just add it to the Grain bill tab? Seems like that would be incorrect because you w...

I took a long look at my recipe and did some calculations and figured I am about a 1.5 lbs heavy on the grains.....

Oh well I brewed a DIPA instead of an IPA.......is there a downside to that :)

I am going to retry the recipe in a couple weeks and see what happens. Thanks for the pointers!

I am currently enjoying this one but I feel it turned out a little closer to a bitter porter...but lovely anyway!

Over Efficient???

Hi Gang, I was hoping you could help with this one. I brewed an APA this weekend and everything went great. Hit my mash temp of 154 for the full 60min. Boil went well(90 min). Plopped it all in the fermenter and hit my in fermenter volume of 22ltrs............great! Until....I took the OG reading. T...
