Welcome to the forum cooldood. It's a bit hard to tell what you are trying to do from the above. You'll probably have to write a few detailed paragraphs on what the above equipment is and what you intend to do with it. Once that is done, I'm sure you will get some feedback and ideas.

My SS tank is actually a chemical foaming station used in the food industry. We fill them with sanitizer add compressed air and spray everything down with foam.

The tank is beautiful, great craftsmanship on all the welds. We bought this tank for emergencies only in case our automated system went down. We never used it once.

I found it in a storage trailer we were cleaning out and instantly thought there is my next keg for some Coopers Canadian Blonde. But it is so big (15 gallons 57l) I thought I would have too many of my in-laws hanging out at my house if they hear what I got .


I saw the other pic of the cooler and thought he had a great idea but why not go one step further and do a one vessel brew. Also since it is on wheels I could brew outside when the weather is nice (both days of summer in Maine)

Hi there cooldood :peace:

On the how much you can brew thing, you will easily be able to brew 30 l into the fermentor of a 1.060 OG beer or 33.5 L into the fermentor of a 1.040 OG beer. This would be very comfortable. With a little discomfort, you should be able to end up filling two 19 L cornelius kegs with a beer of average ABV.

One thing I can't work out from the above is your heat source. How are you going to get this baby to mash and boiling temps?

Sorry cooldood for the delay in reply. I've been short on time lately and so am on a post 'budget' :P. But, there was something about this thread that kept nagging at me. Finally had some time to have a look again and am seeing two big problems unfortunately...

1. You won't be able to pull the bag: See how small the lid is compared to the rest of the vessel? You will have no hope of pulling a wet bag of grain through that narrow opening :sad:. (It looks the same size as a corny keg as a matter of interests so even getting your hand in there would be hard.)

2. The black square immersion heater I am also very unsure of: Can it maintain a boil? Even if it does, there are lots of other problems on the re-circulation side of things that other brewers have found that need to be considered/solved.

So, atm, this vessel is not looking good to me as a BIAB vessel.

I'm going to PM someone else here though that I think might be able to help on this far better than me.

Thanks for the input.
I was originally going to cut the top off the tank to make it easier to use. However in the meantime I have found a sanke keg and I am going to use that. What are the problems of recirculating that you speak of?

I think this is going to be a better way to go. I think the tank in post #1 is just too tall and narrow. Pulling the bag from it would be more like pulling a syringe plunger with your finger over the end as there is very little surface area for the wort to drain from. It could take forever.
