Irish Red Ale Recipe

Anyone...

I have been trying to adapt an Irish Red Ale to BIAB and I am hoping someone can take a look at my recipe to see if I am on the right track. I made some adjustments to attempt to place all the characteristics of an IRA approximately in the middle (average) for the style.

Please let me know if this is a beer you would brew. This is only my second BIAB....don't want to screw it up.

I have attached the BIABacus file as well. Please let me know if it appears that I am using the BIABacus correctly...

OG, the recipe looks good.

The base malt is 58.8% of the recipe, I found 65% base is a better ratio.

BUT, If this is a "tried and true" Recipe, run with it!!!!

Thanks Joshua. I think I will leave the base the way it is. When I found the recipe, it was 55% and had very good reviews. I upped it while attempting to get it more into the middle of the BJCP guidelines. I will let you know how it turns out.

Does it look like I need to improve upon the way I am using BIABacus? It seems that I might not be using it to it's fullest potential....not sure.

OG, If you can Enter the data into section L,M.N.O, it will tell you the data in Section 'P', the brew's "Efficiency"

That is the good thing BIABACUS does, so recipe to recipe or Batch to Batch, you can see if your getting Better/Worse at Brewing!

Looks pretty good OldGoat, one question is why you have adjusted section X 'Volume loss from Lauter'? If it is because you think your kettle might be too full it is better to make an adjustment in section W I believe, although I'm not a full volume variation expert...

I know I answered this already, but I sure don't see my post here...must not have hit "submit"....sorry.

At any rate, I was using section X while I was playing around with BIABacus...and forgot to remove the entry prior to posting the spreadsheet.

Yes, I did. Brewed it with an Irish friend of mine and both he and I were very pleased with it. Drank it all at his graduation party a couple years ago. I haven't had the opportunity to try it again, but it will be on the top of my list...
